About the masjid
A place of worship at the centre of town
Masjid Madeena stands in the heart of Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad. Since 1987 it has been where the community gathers to pray, where children and elders learn, and from where the mahallu looks after those in need.
More than 100 families belong to the mahallu. The masjid committee runs its institutions and its charity work through the year, and in Ramadan it opens its doors every evening to working people and travellers who are far from home at iftar time.

Four institutions run from Masjid Madeena, for every age in the mahallu.
അൽ മദ്റസത്തുൽ ഇസ്ലാമിയ
The masjid's madrasa, where the children of the mahallu learn the Qur'an and the foundations of Islam.
ഖുർആൻ സ്റ്റഡി സെന്റർ
For elders: reading, understanding and reflecting on the Qur'an, because learning has no age.
ലൈബ്രറി
Books for reading, study and reflection, kept for the people of the mahallu.
കോൺഫറൻസ് ഹാൾ
Where the mahallu comes together for conferences, meetings, classes and community programmes.

Through the year, the masjid committee gathers what the community gives and carries it to the families who need it.
റമദാൻ സ്പെഷ്യൽ റിലീഫ്
Support for families in need through the holy month of Ramadan.
ഉദ്ഹിയ്യത്ത്
The sacrifice of Eid al-Adha, with its meat shared among the families of the mahallu and those in need.
ഫിത്ർ സകാത്ത്
Collected before the Eid al-Fitr prayer and given to families in need, so every home can share the joy of Eid.
സകാത്ത്
Collected and distributed to those entitled to it, in keeping with Islamic guidance.
Every Ramadan
റമദാൻ മുഴുവൻ ദിവസവും ഇഫ്താർ
Every day of Ramadan, for the whole month, Masjid Madeena serves iftar for working people and travellers in Sulthan Bathery.
